Cobra Rescue
Presented by
Freedom Sings USA
In the Republic of South Vietnam on June 18, 1968 a Cobra gun ship made a heroic rescue of a four man LRRP (LURP) team that was surrounded, out-gunned and out-manned. The ship was piloted by 1LT Larry Taylor and his co-pilot CW2 James Ratliff. The four man team mounted the Cobra with two on the skids on the right side of the ship and the other two on the gun pods on the left side. Running low on fuel and no ammo 1LT Taylor and his Co Pilot carried the team to safety at a water plant outside of Saigon. Here is a link to an interview with 1LT Larry Taylor on you tube. Also produced by Freedom Sings America is this beautiful song about this mission.
- Cobra 1 - 1LT Larry Taylor, CW2 James Ratliff
- Cobra 2 - CPT Dirk LeMay, CPT Roger Trickler
- LRRP Team Wildcatt 2 - Paul Elsner, Gerald Paddy, Billy Cohn, Dave Hill

My Brother, My Best Friend
by JC Wiggins
I pray for my brother as he struggles with his health.
But we know it's okay because of his spiritual wealth.
He has God in his heart and that's better than gold.
Thank you dear Jesus for saving his soul.
He has no worry concerning himself if it be told.
It's all about family their care and their soul.
He saved them once from ill fate.
In hopes that we all will join you Jesus at heavens gate.
He is my best friend as Jesus you know.
Lord I'm in no hurry to let him go,
But If it is your will I do understand.
Because Lord I know Heaven can always us a good man.
Thank you Jesus for all these years.
Even tho you see me shedding these tears.
I thank you God for all this time,
For Lord I'll see him again when you say it's my time.

Message from our President Dave Flores
Hello to all, I wanted to pass along some information about Danny's funeral. I know that those of you that were not able to attend would like to how things went and I will attach a few pictures. Danny's family is so wonderful, so many people that knew and respected Danny came to the funeral. Seemed like the whole town came out. I learned how many things Danny had done to help others in his town. This was the town that Danny and his family grew up in and it wasn't hard to see that Danny had many, many friends there.
I hope the pictures I have attached will show you some of what took place on Wednesday, at the church service.
Ron Crews was, "elected" to speak for the LRRP RANGERS, on reflections of Danny. Ron did an outstanding job!! Ron was a little nervous, but he did better than most. From the church we went to the cemetery for the rest of the service. We from the company were given a rose to place on Danny's casket. The last member, Ronnie Imel, placed his rose, then shouted out, "Rangers Lead The Way" and saluted. That hit us all, our Brother was gone. We all lost a small piece of ourselves that day, as we do when ever we lose a
Brother in Arms.
I will leave it there, Dave

Carolina Country Boy
By Danny Wiggins
I was born in the Carolinas raised there a lad
Went fishing with my neighbors, but mostly with my dad
We lived on a tobacco farm; Hard work is what we knew
We were out of bed before sunrise and it was dark before we were through
There were lots and lots of children for large clans were desired
To work at home, and trade with neighbors to do all the work required
I’m told there was always food on our table we raised most of it on our farm
There were vegetables from the garden and meat and eggs from the barn
Mom walked us to church every Sunday holding us tightly by the hand
She wanted us to learn about Jesus and make sure we knew his plan
Dad insisted we be strong Never back down and always be tuff
I guess Dad really did have vision He knew times would be rough
I often reflect on my childhood and I smile as part of my life recall
If being poor gives these pleasures then being poor is not bad at all
All those things in my early years created the man I am today
And I must thank these country folks for showing me the way
When my life is finally over and God shall take me home
I pray heaven is a country place and there I will find his throne
